On The Tour
-
How much does punting cost?
Shared tours are available with adults starting from £15 and children from £10. For those preferring a more exclusive experience, private tours begin at £120 per boat, accommodating up to 12 people. Please note that prices vary by season and availability, so for the most current pricing information, we recommend checking our Booking page or contacting us directly.
-
What should I wear when punting?
We recommend wearing comfortable clothing and flat shoes with good grip, as the punt can be slightly unsteady when boarding. Bring an extra layer, as it can feel cooler on the river—even in summer. In case of light rain, we provide umbrellas, but you may also want to bring a waterproof jacket just in case.
-
Is punting safe for children?
Yes, punting is very safe for children. However, children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult at all times. The only person typically at risk of falling in is the guide! That said, please ensure children keep their hands inside the punt throughout the tour for everyone's safety.
-
How long does a tour last?
Our tours typically last between 45 and 50 minutes, depending on river traffic. Longer tours can be arranged—if you’d like a 1-hour or extended tour, please contact us.
-
Where do the tours start and end?
Tours start and finish at our punting station on Jesus Green.
-
Are the tours always return trips, or can we go one way?
Our standard chauffeured tours are return trips. If you’d like a one-way trip, please contact us in advance.
-
Can we bring a dog on the punt?
Yes, friendly dogs are welcome on all our tours! We just ask that you can keep them under control and be gracious if another customer objects.
-
Can we bring our own food and drink?
Absolutely. Picnics are welcome, but we kindly ask that you take your rubbish with you.
-
Can we bring alcohol?
Yes, you can bring your own alcohol, but we ask that you drink responsibly and avoid glass where possible.
-
Can we decorate the punt for a special occasion?
Yes, light decorations are fine. Please let us know in advance and avoid anything that could damage the boat or pollute the river.
-
What happens if it rains?
Tours continue in light rain as we provide umbrellas to keep you dry. If you wish to cancel due to weather conditions, cancellations made more than 48 hours in advance qualify for either a free reschedule or 70% refund, while cancellations made less than 48 hours before your tour are not eligible for refunds. If we are required to cancel due to severe weather conditions, you will receive a full refund.
-
Can I try punting during a guided tour?
During a guided tour, trying punting yourself depends on the type of tour. On shared tours, you might have the opportunity to try punting if the river is quiet, although this isn't guaranteed. Private tours offer the best chance for you to give punting a try
-
Do you offer self-hire?
No, we only offer guided tours.
-
What’s the difference between self-hire and chauffeured punting?
Self-hire means you punt the boat yourself. A chauffeured tour is guided by a professional who navigates and shares local history and stories along the way.
